Wastewater Treatment & Collection
Description
Central wastewater treatment systems are being used for the treatment of sewage in large cities to small developments. Advanced technology has made the treatment of sewage in a centralized system viable for small communities. These advanced technologies are capable of treating sewage to high standards including nutrient removal. Advanced control and monitoring systems are used to operate and optimize the quality of treated effluent in these wastewater systems.
Wastewater collection systems can be designed as gravity systems or low pressure collection systems. Many gravity collection systems direct the sewage flow into lift stations that pressurize the effluent and ultimately deliver it to the wastewater treatment plant.
Proper design and planning of the collection system is important to minimize infiltration into the system, minimize solids deposition in pipelines and lift stations and to monitor and analyze the collection system performance.
