Stormwater

Description

Management of storm water is important to reduce damage due to flooding and contamination of natural waterways.  Development within a watershed changes the quantity and quality of the stormwater runoff.  Storm water management studies are done in order to analyze the impact of development and mitigate it’s effects.

Master drainage plans are developed for large land areas.  These plans are developed to provide guidance with respect to allowable runoff rates, water quality targets and potential receiving waterbodies.

Developments within the master drainage plan area must analyze the potential storm water runoff in more detail than is required for the master drainage plan.  Storm water runoff from developments must meet or exceed the targets developed in the master drainage plan.
